Specification governance
Draft technical specification, separate from the regulation. The technical committee prepares and revises it subject to board approval; each version is published with its effective date and transition arrangements under sections 17 of the Act and 40 of the registry regulation. It cannot change statutory or regulatory rights, fees, duties or safeguards.
Identifiers and location
Initial specification: EDF_, SGN_ and AC_ prefixes followed by 10 characters; DEP_, EDJ_ and DPJ_ followed by 15 characters, generated cryptographically securely using the base-34 alphabet 0123456789ABCDEFGHJKLMNPQRSTUVWXYZ, excluding I and O. Collisions are checked; assigned identifiers are never recycled and editorial ART_ identifiers remain unchanged. Locations use WGS 84 decimal degrees with separate latitude and longitude; GeoJSON uses [longitude, latitude] order, with source, accuracy and verification status.
Programming interface
The initial API uses REST, appropriate HTTP methods and status codes, and JSON for structured data, errors, metadata and acknowledgements. Principal PDFs and DPJ_ attachments use secure transfers; coordinates are transmitted as data, with maps rendered by the user’s interface. Versioned documentation describes operations, formats, parameters and transitions while preserving the same permissions, signatures, access limits and audit records as the Web interface.
